Oneness to prove Eggleston a good judge

Thursday 10 May 2018, 10:49am

Trainer Mel Eggleston's belief Oneness is more than a Gold Coast specialist is set to reap a stakes win at Doomben.

Oneness was a strong second to Marsupial over 1350m at Doomben two weeks ago, prompting Eggleston to accept with Oneness in Saturday's Listed Queensland Day Handicap over the same distance.

Oneness has won four races, three at the Gold Coast and his most recent was his first in the city.

Eggleston has always believed Oneness can become a stakes class horse.

"He has had a few little issues which is why he has had only eight starts," Eggleston said.

"But he is building up to his top form now and I am happy now he is getting out to 1350 to 1400 metres."

Oneness is raced by the Cressfield Syndicate for whom Eggleston has had his share of success.

"Kris Lees gets a lot of their horses but they have been good to me," Eggleston said.

The Queensland Day Handicap has attracted a strong field of three-year-olds including Marsupial, Snitz, Mishani Bullitt, Skate to Paris and Femme Fireball,

"It is a good race but I think he is up to it," Eggleston said.
