Terravista retired from racing

Sunday 13 May 2018, 5:50pm

Dual Group One-winning sprinter Terravista has run his last race with trainer Joe Pride and his owners retiring him after a lacklustre performance at Scone.

Terravista ran ninth of 12 runners in Saturday's Listed Ortensia Stakes, a race connections decided was a better option than the Group One Doomben 10,000.

In a career spanning five seasons, Terravista won 11 of his 32 starts including the 2014 Darley Classic and 2017 Lightning Stakes, both over the Flemington straight course.

His Lightning win elevated him to the world's equal best sprinter and he earned his owners more than $2.6 million.

Terravista's career was beset by feet issues which Pride had to manage carefully.

He is a son of grand broodmare, the late Parfore, who also produced the Pride-trained Group One winner Tiger Tees and Group Two-winning stablemate Ball Of Muscle.

She was also the dam of dual Singapore Horse of the Year Super Easy and stakes winner Our Lukas.
