Winning Wednesday for All Too Hard

Thursday 17 May 2018, 8:56am

A Wednesday treble for Vinery Stud's All Too Hard featured a juvenile quinella at Sandown with Riviera and De Little Sister hitting the line locked together and a promising three year-old entered for the Group I BRC Queensland Derby.

The Hawkes Racing trained filly Riviera was easy in the market for her debut, but showed plenty of natural talent to race up on the pace for Dwayne Dunn before defying all challengers to win the 1000 metre scamper by a short half head.

A modest $50,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Commendable Bloodstock from the Marquee Stud draft, Riviera runs for members of the Hawkes family and carries the colours of their grand-parents.

Hawkes Racing Tweeted - What a story for this filly Riviera!!! 1st start 1st Win... A true Family affair with the Ownership and with these colours being used by our Grandparents some 30 plus years ago, to which John Hawkes rode and trained his first winner in...

Riviera is the first winner for winning Lonhro mare What a Treat, who comes from the family of Champion 2YO Filly Fashions Afield.

All Too Hard also featured at Warwick Farm where three year-old gelding Cormac gave James Mcdonald his first winner back after returning from suspension.

He then made it a treble when promising three year-old Evolo saluted at the Sunshine Coast, bolting in over 2200 metres. The Toby Edmonds trained gelding has won two of four starts and is entered for the Group I BRC Queensland Derby.

All Too Hard is the leading Australian second crop sire by winners and stands this spring a fee of $33,000.
