Dale Smith gets one meeting off suspension

Tuesday 29 May 2018, 3:29pm

Jockey Dale Smith has lost an appeal against a careless riding suspension but had one meeting shaved off his penalty.

Smith was found guilty of careless riding in a race at Geelong on Sunday and appealed against both the decision and also the severity of the nine-meeting penalty.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board dismissed the appeal against the decision on Tuesday but allowed the appeal against the severity, varying the suspension to eight meetings.

Jockey Jake Noonan also had an appeal against the severity of a careless riding suspension heard by the RAD Board on Tuesday.

Noonan was outed for 10 meetings at Moe last week aboard eventual winner Mutual Respect in a maiden and the RAD Board dismissed his appeal.

Both jockeys' suspensions are due to start after Wednesday's meeting at Sale.
