Consistent Dreams Aplenty is set to consign the only poor run of his career to history at the Sunshine Coast.

Dreams Aplenty scored a fighting first-up win in the Gold Coast Cup and will be trying to make it back to back Listed wins in Saturday's Spear Chief Stakes (1400m) .

The only blot on his otherwise consistent career was at his previous start over 1400m when Dreams Aplenty finished 16th in the Sunshine Coast Cup.

It was the worst run of Dreams Aplenty's career which includes seven wins and seven minor placings from 20 starts

Dreams Aplenty was the victim of the heat and a fast track that January day and trainer John Zielke said since a break Dreams A Plenty had come back better than ever.

"He is such a tough horse. If you were in a fight you would love him to be with you," Zielke said.

"His last-start win at the Gold Coast showed that.

"There is a lot of pace on Saturday but he doesn't have to lead. He can sit just behind them here and when they are folding their tents he can get into the action."

Zielke said a month between runs would not worry Dreams Aplenty.

"We decided to miss last week for this race and the way Doomben fell apart it might have been the right way to go," Zielke said.

Tegan Harrison who won the Gold Coast Cup will retain the ride.

Zielke was pleased to see two-year-old stablemate Champagne Garden would make the field for the Group One J J Atkins Stakes on Saturday week.

Champagne Garden was to have run in the Listed Phoenix Stakes (1600m) at the Sunshine coast to qualify for the Atkins.

But Champagne Garden was number 13 when the first acceptances were taken and safely in the field.

"He won at 1400 metres last start and will really appreciate getting out to 1600 metres," Zielke said.
