Facile Tigre fresh and ready for Goodwood

Thursday 9 May 2013, 12:47pm

There's a Group One sprint in Brisbane on Saturday but Queensland speedster Facile Tigre will instead chase a breakthrough big-race win in Adelaide.

The Jason McLachlan-trained Facile Tigre will go into the Group One Goodwood at Morphettville as one of the best-backed runners.

And jockey Brad Rawiller is confident the gelding is in superior order than before his second in the Oakleigh Plate a few months ago.

"I've been riding him in his main gallops and a couple of jump-outs and I think he's going better than he was before the Oakleigh Plate," Rawiller said.

Facile Tigre has been placed in the past two Group One Oakleigh Plates at Caulfield, including his second to Mrs Onassis in February at his most recent start.

Rawiller thought the Oakleigh Plate was Facile Tigre's best chance of winning a Group One but the tempo he wanted didn't eventuate, with the sprinter closing late to finish a length from Mrs Onassis.

The Goodwood is one of two Group One sprints in Australia on Saturday with the other being the weight-for-age BTC Cup (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

The Peter Moody-trained Moment Of Change is a clear favourite for The Goodwood in his return from a short rest.
