Parko to steal limelight at Ipswich

Friday 15 June 2018, 3:13pm

Promising two-year-old Parko looks set to steal some of the limelight from the older horses at the feature Ipswich meeting.

Parko will tackle the Bundamba Plate (1100m) which always draws a large and strong field because it carries QTIS bonus money.

The gelding produced one of the best runs from recent metropolitan midweek meetings when he won a Gold Coast 2YO maiden by 6-1/2 lengths on June 6.

Parko clocked a slick 1.09.54 which was the fastest of the four 1200m races that day including those for older horses.

Trainer Scott Morrisey said Parko had been unlucky at his two previous starts and had hit form.

"He has drawn a good barrier in five on Saturday and this will be his test," he said.

Parko's task has been made easier with one of his main rivals the promising The Fire Trap drawing barrier 16.
