Envy win moves Lees to training record

Saturday 16 June 2018, 2:35pm

Newcastle trainer Kris Lees has reached a milestone of the most winners he has had in a season after Envy Of All won at Ipswich.

With Jeff Lloyd aboard, the filly came from mid-field to score an impressive victory in the Cooney Three-Year-Old Handicap (1100m) on Saturday.

Lees had a double at Warwick Farm on Wednesday to move to 160-1/2 winners and Envy Of All lifted him to 161-1/2, which was half a win better than his previous best.

He is fifth on the Australian trainers premiership table.

Lees's travelling foreman, Cameron Swan, says Envy Of All is a very promising filly with more wins in store.

Envy Of All will continue her winter campaign at Caloundra in two weeks.
