Mallyon gets careless riding ban reduced

Thursday 21 June 2018, 4:03pm

Jockey Andrew Mallyon has had three meetings shaved off a careless riding ban on appeal.

Mallyon was suspended for 12 meetings at Sale on June 14 but lodged an appeal against the severity of the penalty which was heard on Thursday by the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.

The jockey will begin his nine-meeting suspension after Saturday's Flemington meeting where he is booked for five rides.

His Flemington book includes last-start winner Double Jeopardy in the Great Ocean Road Handicap (1100m), while he is also set to ride Charlevoix, Rossman, Excites Zelady and Bullpit.
