Doug Harrison is keen to give Falcent a shot at a stakes race before the end of his campaign and the three-year-old can confirm those plans with success at Caulfield on Saturday.
The lightly raced Falcent is favourite to return to the winner's circle in the Arthur Gauci Handicap (1200m) after being narrowly beaten in an eye-catching performance at the same track over 1100m last Saturday week.
"Depending on how he goes on Saturday, there's a Listed race for three-year-olds down the straight at Flemington next month that he could go to," Harrison said.
"It would be nice to have a go at that one down the straight to see how he handles it."
The race Harrison is looking at is the Listed Creswick Stakes (1200m) on June 8.
Before that, the Cranbourne trainer is focused on Saturday's event where Falcent will be ridden by Warrnambool Cup-winning apprentice Ben Knobel for the first time.
Falcent has notched a win and two close seconds in his three starts this campaign, including a half-head defeat two weeks ago when the gelding powered home from last after jumping awkwardly from the outside barrier.
"You've got to be pretty confident with him on his last run," Harrison said.
"It was a sensational run."
