Blue blood colt Nordicus is closing in on his race debut after winning a barrier trial at Rosehill.
The Bjorn Baker-trained two-year-old is by six-time Group One winner Dundeel out of five-time Group One winner Miss Finland and fetched $900,000 at last year's Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast.
Nordicus finished a close second in his first official barrier trial at Rosehill earlier this month before winning a 910m heat for two-year-olds by 1-1/2-lengths at the same track on Monday.
"He may make his debut at Canterbury next Wednesday over 1250m," a Twitter post from Baker said.
Baker's father Murray trained Dundeel, who raced in Australia as It's A Dundeel, with his six Group Ones including the three-year-old Sydney triple crown of the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby in 2013.
His other big wins included the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick in his final race start in 2014 before he was retired to stud.
Miss Finland's progeny includes Stay With Me, winner of the 2015 Group One Thousand Guineas.
