Sydney trainer Con Karakatsanis and his father Tony have failed in their bid to have their sentences reduced in their long-running race-day treatment case.
Victoria's Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board banned Tony Karakatsanis for two years and Con for nine months over their attempt to treat the horse Howmuchdoyouloveme before it raced at Flemington last November.
Stewards raided the Flemington stable where Howmuchdoyouloveme was staying and found Tony Karakatsanis, who was strapping the horse, in its stall with a bag containing equipment used for stomach tubing.
An appeal against their conviction to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal had previously failed.
Con Karakatsanis said he would weigh up what legal options, if any, remained open to he and his father.
As it stands, he has until the end of the month to wind up his Rosehill training operation.
