The French stayer Tac De Boistron is to return to Europe after failing to fire in Australia.
Tac De Boistron made a much-heralded arrival in Australia last spring after impressing trainer Mick Kent who began the horse's spring preparation before it left quarantine in England.
But after two dismal runs, the latest when he finished 23rd in the Melbourne Cup, and a second preparation with Kent in which he didn't get to the races, the experiment has been deemed a failure.
Kent said had had no doubt Tac De Boistron possessed ability, but was unsuited by firm Australian tracks.
The gelding's owners, Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock, will continue to race him in Europe where he will go to the Newmarket yard of Marco Botti.
Kent said the Prix du Cadran run at the Arc de Triomphe meeting at Longchamp in October will be Tac De Boistron's immediate mission.
At the opposite end of the racing spectrum, Kent was compensated for the departure of Tac De Boistron by the win of Pyrrolic at Sandown on Wednesday.
Having his first start, Pyrrolic ($9) won the Catanach's Jewellers Plate (1200m), maintaining Kent's useful record with his boutique team of juveniles this season.
"I've only got a handful in work and they've all done well, so I'm not unhappy about that," Kent said.
Another, Miss Steele, makes her debut in the Carbine Club Plate at Flemington on Saturday.
Kent is also a part-owner of the smart Sydney two-year-old Everage whose three wins include the Listed Keith McKay Handicap.
