Stewards have confirmed jockey Brenton Avdulla will appear before the Racing NSW licencing committee on Monday.
Avdulla will be quizzed after it was revealed on Wednesday that police and racing officials had been investigating a possible association between the jockey and a member of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle club.
The bikie gave Avdulla a mobile telephone for the purpose race tipping, it was alleged in The Australian.
It is not regular practice for jockeys to be asked to appear before the licencing committee simply as a matter of course.
While deputy chief steward Greg Rudolph didn't confirm the reasons the licencing committee wanted to interview the jockey, he did say there were instances when racing officials might see fit to take that action.
"For example, if there was some concern about the associations a licensed person was having it might be that stewards or the licencing committee have an interest in that," Rudolph said.
Avdulla is among the better young riders in Sydney and has won three Group One races, including the 2011 Epsom Handicap on Secret Admirer.
