* Having been retired, Black Heart Bart, winner of the 2016 edition, makes his return for new trainer Lindsey Smith

* Star Godolphin mare Alizee is favourite to claim her fourth Group One victory having won over the Caulfield 1400m in this year's Futurity Stakes

* Begood Toya Mother will be aiming to stretch his winning sequence to seven when he lines up for his first attempt at weight-for-age and in Group One company

WHAT THE MAIN PLAYERS ARE SAYING:

"He's flying. That was a huge run the other day" - co-trainer Ciaron Maher on Cliff's Edge

"He's had three trials now and he's ready to go, but will be improved by the run" - Humidor's co-trainer Ciaron Maher

"He has come on nicely since the Aurie's Star and he has been to Caulfield before at this level and he has run well" - Material Man's trainer Pat Carey

"I'd rather find out that I'm wrong by running rather than running him in the handicap and blowing them away and then Sunday morning waking up and say we should have run" - Daniel Bowman, trainer of Begood Toya Mother

"He doesn't have to win, as long as he comes back safe and sound and doesn't tail off, which I don't think he will, he'll be fine" - Black heart Bart's trainer Lindsay Smith

"When you can lead and win a Goodwood over 1200 metres at Morphettville, a tough track, you need a 1400-metre horse to do that" - trainer Tony McEvoy on Despatch
