An early spring campaign for Everage that would probably involve meeting the Golden Slipper winner Overreach on similar terms has been shelved in favour of extending her two-year-old season.
Everage is among 20 nominations for the 2YO Plate at Randwick on Saturday and is a confirmed starter for the race, even if a jockey to ride her isn't.
The filly, who has excelled on wet tracks with three wins in heavy going, spent 10 days in a paddock after her last-start victory in the Listed Keith Mackay Quality at Randwick last month.
Trainer Craig Carmody said plans for Everage after the Keith Mackay had been left open-ended.
"We hadn't set anything in stone," he said.
"When we had a look at the options for her later on - in the spring - we realised she'd be meeting Overreach pretty close in the weights.
"Considering her love of wet tracks and the time of the year we are in, there are two or three set weights races that we have decided to target while she is going so well."
Everage, who has won close to $200,000 stakes, is raced in partnership by Carmody and Melbourne trainer Mick Kent.
Carmody was still on the lookout for a jockey on Tuesday because Everage's regular rider Nathan Berry is serving a suspension.
Everage has 57kg and the trainer said engaging a claiming apprentice would be a consideration.
"She is a fairly predictable racehorse so an apprentice is an option," he said.
The Chris Waller-trained Zoustar, unbeaten after wins at Canterbury and Hawkesbury, heads the weights on 57.5kg with the widely travelled Dalton.
Dalton, trained by the Hawkes Racing partnership, won a Sydney barrier trial before breaking through at Eagle Farm in January.
He returns to Hawkes Racing's Rosehill stable after three recent Melbourne runs, the best of which was a third at Flemington two starts ago.
