Luke Tarrant to return at Doomben

Thursday 27 September 2018, 12:55pm

Talented lightweight jockey Luke Tarrant makes his return to metropolitan racing with just one ride at Doomben.

Tarrant was the leading apprentice in Queensland three years ago with his major wins including the 2014 Group Two Villiers on Rudy and the 2015 Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Le Chef.

He has since had a chequered career on and off the track but has ridden nearly 300 winners including the Listed Queensland Lightning in June.

Tarrant took a break from riding in June but resumed three weeks ago.

He has been competing on provincial tracks but will be at Doomben on Saturday to ride Sunny Victory in the Simon George Sells Strawberries Open Handicap (1200m).

Sunny Victory finished last in a four-horse field at the Sunshine Coast first-up but trainer Darlene Duryea believes he will improve over the Doomben 1200m, a distance he has won at twice.
