Everest scare for Tulloch Lodge horses

Monday 1 October 2018, 5:17pm

Stablemates Invincible Star and English will have to pass veterinary inspections to take their places in the $13 million Everest.

At the request of stewards, Racing NSW chief veterinary officer Dr Toby Koenig inspected the two Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained sprinters on Monday.

Invincible Star beat just one runner home in Saturday's Premiere Stakes at Randwick with Koenig reporting on Monday she was grade 3/5 lame in her off fore leg.

English finished last of four in a trial before Monday's race meeting at Randwick with Koenig and fellow vet James Mizzi finding the mare to be grade 1/5 lame in her near fore leg.

Bott told stewards Invincible Star was scheduled to be examined by Tulloch Lodge stable vet Leanne Begg on Tuesday.

Stewards have asked him to confer with Koenig about a treatment plan for the mare and for him to examine her later this week to assess whether she will be fit to run in the $13 million Everest on October 13.

English will be examined by Racing NSW veterinarians later this week and will need a clearance before she races again.

A group headed by Greg Ingham holds the slot in the Everest occupied by Invincible Star while English is due to run for Damion Flower.
