Japanese import Ambitious will take no further part in the Melbourne spring racing carnival.

Ambitious was placed in the Group One Tancred Stakes and Group One Doomben Cup earlier this year in his first Australian preparation but had been out of the money in two recent starts including his eighth of nine in Sunday's Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.

The Anthony Freedman stable reported to Racing Victoria stewards the horse had not pulled up well after the Underwood and would be out for the rest of the spring.

Ambitious held nominations in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and Cox Plate.
