A strong European representation is expected for the opening day of the Caulfield Cup carnival.
Horses trained by Aidan O'Brien, Charlie Appleby, Saeed bin Suroor and Charlie Fellowes have been entered across five races on Saturday's 10-race program.
O'Brien, who will be represented by U S Navy Flag in The Everest at Randwick on Saturday, has five horses entered in three races.
It's the first time O'Brien has brought sprinters to Melbourne's spring carnival and he has entered the three horses in the Group Two Schillaci Stakes along with Cliffs Of Moher in the Group One Caulfield Stakes and Yucatan in the Herbert Power Stakes.
Cliffs Of Moher and Yucatan may also back up in Saturday week's $5 million Caulfield Cup.
Of the overseas horses nominated, Jungle Cat, winner of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, and Blair House, fourth in the Underwood Stakes, are the only ones with race experience in Australia.
Appleby has nominated Blair House in two Group One races on Saturday, one over 1600m and one over 2000m.
