Blinkers for Lindsay Park duo in Guineas

Wednesday 10 October 2018, 5:20pm

The Lindsay Park team is relying on the addition of blinkers to spark enough improvement in Good 'N' Fast and Muswellbrook to make their mark in the Caulfield Guineas.

Both three-year-olds will be racing in blinkers for the first time in Saturday's 1600m Group One race.

"I just feel they're both probably two or three lengths off the best and blinkers might give them that two or three lengths," co-trainer Ben Hayes said.

"We're really happy with both of them going into the race."

Good 'N' Fast won the Listed Taj Rossi Series Final as a late-season two-year-old in his only attempt over the Guineas distance of 1600m and he goes to the $2 million race at his third start this spring.

After running third to Brutal and Guineas rival Leonardo Da Hinchi in a Listed race at Flemington last month, Good 'N' Fast finished eighth in the Guineas Prelude (1400m) last start in his first Caulfield appearance.

"He actually ran the second fastest last 400 metres of the race, so it was a good run," Hayes said.

"He got a bit further back than we thought he would from his barrier draw that day."

Good 'N' Fast was at $26 on Wednesday while Muswellbrook was at $34.

Dual Group One winner The Autumn Sun is the dominant favourite.

Muswellbrook was second to Leonardo Da Hinchi in the Stutt Stakes last start and Hayes is hoping the gelding can utilise barrier one.

"Muswellbrook drawing one is a bit awkward for him. Sometimes first time in blinkers they can miss the start so that might be a problem," he said.

"We'll just ride him positively from the barrier and hopefully get the box-seat."
