Doomben set to race on heavy track

Friday 12 October 2018, 10:01am

Doomben has handled two days of rain without any problems and racing is set to go ahead on a heavy track.

The track received about 12mm of rain on Thursday taking the total to 43mm for the week.

Track manager Jim Roberts walked the track on Friday morning and reported it was just in the heavy range ahead of Saturday's meeting.

"There is no danger to the meeting at this stage but of course we are in the hands of weather on Saturday," he said.

"The weather bureau is predicting heavy rain on Saturday so if we get a drenching things can change."

Roberts and stewards will again walk the track late on Friday afternoon.

"And of course we will again inspect it early on Saturday morning to keep the industry informed," he said.

Up to 35mm is predicted for Brisbane on Saturday.
