Verry Elleegant's part-owner and former trainer Nick Bishara is living a dream with the filly who is the VRC Oaks favourite after her Group Three win at Caulfield.
Bishara was on his way back to New Zealand on Sunday, the day after Verry Elleegant's victory in the Ethereal Stakes which has propelled her to the top of the TAB's Oaksvmarket at $2.50.
The trainer and his fellow owners negotiated a deal for the filly to race in Australia for trainer Darren Weir after she won two races in New Zealand.
"I'm a bit dusty this morning as it was a big night," Bishara told NZ Racing Desk.
"It was just an amazing day and to win a race like that with a little old New Zealand filly doesn't get any better.
"I'm just living the dream."
Bishara says the gangly filly is tough and belies her frame.
"The Aussies are saying she is a lightly framed filly but to me she is just a typical kiwi staying type," he said.
"We met most of the new owners at Caulfield yesterday and they are a great bunch. We celebrated long and hard but I did have time to reflect a little on it all and it is just an amazing feeling.
"What it does show you is that anyone can have success in this game, whether you are big or small."
