Multiple Group One winner Redkirk Warrior has won a jump-out at Flemington, putting him on track for the VRC Sprint Classic.
Redkirk Warrior is a straight-track specialist having won two Newmarket Handicaps and a Lightning Stakes at Group One level at Flemington.
The sprinter has been aimed at Saturday week's Group One VRC Sprint Classic since returning from an overseas campaign in which he was unplaced in two Group One sprints in England in June and July.
Redkirk Warrior was comfortably beaten in a star-studded straight-track jump-out last Friday.
But jockey Regan Bayliss was much happier with his effort on Friday morning when Redkirk Warrior had winkers applied.
"His first trial he was up against race-fit horses who had already had three or four runs and he just blew out," Bayliss said.
"But he took massive improvement from that and he trialled like the Redkirk of old this morning.
"He won his jump-out nicely."
Redkirk Warrior is at $15 for the VRC Sprint, with the market headed by dual Everest winner and defending champion Redzel at $4.50.
"He is obviously really good fresh and down the straight," Bayliss said.
"It's going to be a very competitive race but if he brings his A-game he will be hard to beat."
