Peter Moody believes the knowledge Brad Rawiller gained from riding Manighar in the Doomben Cup will lead to a better result when they combine again in Saturday's Eagle Farm Cup.
Rawiller rode Manighar for the first time in the Doomben Cup when he finished fourth to Beaten Up after sprinting to the lead at the 300-metre mark before being swamped in the final stages.
"Brad did exactly what I asked of him in the race," Moody told radio station RSN.
"In the context of how it was run, if he had his time over again he probably waits a hundred yards.
"With that experience on him I think both horse and rider will take terrific benefit from it."
Manighar finished slightly ahead of stablemate Lights Of Heaven in the Doomben Cup and they will be joined by Voila Ici in the Eagle Farm Cup to provide Moody with half the runners in the weight-for-age event.
Lights Of Heaven has pleased Moody as she aims for back-to-back wins in the Eagle Farm Cup.
"She's held her condition well and loves Eagle Farm," he said.
"She's racing like she wants this trip and she's done very well hence the reason I'm running her before the Brisbane Cup."
Moody said there is only a "cigarette paper" between Manighar and Lights Of Heaven which is reflected in pre-post betting.
Lights Of Heaven is the $2.90 favourite with Manighar on the next line at $3.20.
Moody said there will be no excuses for Voila Ici ($15) if he doesn't perform up to his expectations on Saturday.
"He's got soft conditions and it's an ideal trip for him," he said.
"He looks the leader on paper and he should get a soft run in front."
