No Annamossity gets his stakes chance

Friday 30 November 2018, 6:09pm

An impressive trial win has trainer Robert Heathcote hopeful his galloper No Annamossity can emulate his famous relative Buffering and become a stakes winner at Doomben,

No Annamossity is a three quarter brother to seven-time Group One winner Buffering and Heathcote early on thought the gelding might also be up to elite class.

No Annamossity has had to battle serious injury problems but he has won six races.

The gelding was one of the stars of the recent Doomben barrier trials where he made short work of a strong field including leading sprinter Care To Think.

The trial was so good Heathcote decided to give No Annamossity a first-up run in the Group Three George Moore Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.

"It was a very good effort in the trial. He has two pins in a leg he fractured in winning a race as a young horse. Who knows how good he could have been?" Heathcote said..

"But this seems the right race for him. He had an ideal barrier and while I don't think he will lead he can be right up on the pace.

"If there is any rain he can also handle wet tracks which a few other might not."

Heathcote is refreshed after having his best start to a season in years and also leading the Queensland racing industry in a protest which succeeded in getting increased prize money.
