Peter Hulbert chasing Millions glory

Friday 7 December 2018, 12:18pm

Trainer Peter Hulbert is hopeful he can live up to a promise to give Taylor Marshall a Magic Millions Classic ride on Oh Five Glory after she runs at Doomben.

Oh Five Glory will be chasing a Magic Millions place when she runs in Saturday's Mount Franklin Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200m).

At her only start, Oh Five Glory came from the second outside barrier to be runner-up to Neptune's Spear at Doomben on November 17.

After that run, Hulbert and his son and co-trainer Will decided on a Magic Millions tilt.

"To run second from that barrier was a great effort. Taylor rode her a treat and he has done a lot of work with her," Hulbert said.

"If she wins on Saturday she should go close to qualifying for the Millions and you can bet they will all be ringing up for the ride But we will be sticking with Taylor and we stick with our promises."

Oh Five Glory is a daughter of 2014 Magic Millions winner Unencumbered and looks a cheap buy at $30,000.

Marshall, who rode a winner at Ipswich on Wednesday, came out of his apprenticeship recently and is keen to ride as many winners as possible in coming weeks.

The field for Saturday's race has been reduced to six with the scratching of the Chris Waller'-trained Elon.
