Coral Bay to give family another win

Sunday 23 December 2018, 5:44pm

The Cutts family has been winning feature races in Queensland for more than 30 years and gets the chance to add another trophy to the collection at Doomben.

Ross Cutts and his wife Judy have had some outstanding horses including the 2001 Group One Stradbroke Handicap winner Show A Heart.

Much of the family's success has come from the mare Miss Sandman who won 12 races and went on to produce many top horses including Show A Heart.

Queensland's leading sire for more than a decade, Show A Heart produced another Group One winner, Woorim, for the Cutts family.

Another son of Show A Heart, Coral Bay, will wear the family colours in the Summer Provincial Series Final on Saturday.

The series was run over seven heats at provincial tracks in the south east part of the state.

Coral Bay has won his past three starts including two of the series heats at the Sunshine Coast.

Trainer Stuart Kendrick said Coral Bay was the perfect type of horse for the series.

"He handles wet and dry tracks and the 1350 metres of the final will suit him," Kendrick said.

"The Cutts family put a lot into Queensland racing and it is always good to get a feature race winner for them."

Damian Browne who has ridden Coral Bay at his past three wins is expected to again have the ride on Saturday.
