Full book for Jay Ford at Randwick

Jay Ford regards Sikhing Glory as one of his best rides at Randwick despite a distance query over the Joe Pride-trained sprinter.

The five-year-old hasn't won beyond 1000 metres and steps out to 1200 on Saturday.

Having ridden the horse in eight of his 12 starts, including a last-start third over 1150m on the Kensington track, Ford is adamant Sikhing Glory has matured and is looking for the extra distance.

"I don't have any qualms about the 1200. I think it will suit him down to the ground," Ford said.

"The other day he ran really well but he just found them a little bit sharp for him and I suggested to Joe maybe he's looking for beyond 1000, 1100 because that used to be his forte.

"He's given me every indication he'll run 1200, 1300 metres now which he couldn't do previously.

"He's a very consistent horse and he's working his way towards a win and hopefully he gets it on Saturday."

Ford has a full book of nine rides, four of them for leading trainer Chris Waller including Solo Mission in the TAB.com.au Handicap and Toryjoy, the early favourite for the 2019 Membership Handicap (1500m).

He has also picked up the handy mounts on in-form mare Sweet Deal for John Thompson in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400m) and Group One placegetter Frolic in the Summer Sprint (1000m).

"There's plenty there so hopefully there's something amongst them," he said.
