Huddy's faith in Lucas Cranach pays off

Wednesday 6 February 2019, 5:15pm

Owner Linda Huddy's faith in sire Lucas Cranach continued to be rewarded when Advance Warning won at Ipswich.

Huddy and her husband Graham have won some of Australia's biggest races and will have Pretty Brazen in the $2 million Inglis Millennium at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

But Linda Huddy gets an big thrill every time one of her horses by Lucas Cranach wins because she has been singing the sire's praises for the past few years.

Advance Warning ($3.70) changed course in the straight but was too strong in a maiden over 1350m.

Trainer Tony Gollan and Huddy had a double at Eagle Farm on Saturday including the win of Get Stuck In who is also by Lucas Cranach, the third placegetter in the 2011 Melbourne Cup.

"Linda really likes the Lucas Cranach horses and she breeds from him. I have a few for her and I don't know if I have totally worked them out yet but they can gallop," Gollan said.

"They also take some work. Advance Warning ran off the track a couple of runs back and we tried him with pacifiers before taking them off again ."

She's Reliable ($1.65) continued the long tradition of Queensland owners and trainers looking to New Zealand for stayers with her win in the Members Plate (2200m).

She's Reliable ran ninth in last year's Group One Queensland Oaks (2200m) and proved a class above Wednesday's field.

A Karaka Sales graduate, the mare is by former top stayer Reliable Man out of the Anabaa mare Miss Juventus making her a sister to promising Queensland stayer Trusty Lad.
