Jeff Lloyd repays debt on Raay Of Dreams

Saturday 9 February 2019, 2:14pm

Premier jockey Jeff Lloyd says he repaid the connections of two-year-old filly Raay of Dreams when he steered her to an upset win at Doomben.

Lloyd rode top colt Alligator Blood at the Sunshine Coast two weeks ago when Raay Of Dreams ran third.

He was booked to ride Raay Of Dreams in the Mount Franklin Handicap (1200m) when her regular jockey Jim Byrne was injured last week and missed the meeting.

Lloyd made the most of the ride, taking Raay Of Dreams ($8.50) past tearaway leader Guntantes at the 250m and going on to win by 1-1/2 lengths to the favourite Bigboyroy ($1.60).

"I reckon I might have been the undoing of Raay Of Dreams at the Sunshine Coast because I was able to hold my ground on Alligator Blood and put her in a worse position," he said.

"I was able to get a nice trail behind the tearaway leader today and she was very strong at the finish."

Raay Of Dreams is likely to continue campaigning in Brisbane with a 1300m race at Eagle Farm in a fortnight an option.

She cost $50,000 at the Inglis Classic Sales last year and has already returned $55,700.
