Red Cadeaux to make return in Hardwicke

Saturday 8 June 2013, 11:42am

Ed Dunlop's globetrotting superstar Red Cadeaux is set to make his first appearance in Britain in almost a year in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The 2011 Melbourne Cup runner-up has enjoyed another outstanding winter campaign, claiming the biggest victory of his career in December's Hong Kong Vase before going on to finish second in the Dubai World Cup and third in the Tenno Sho in Japan.

The seven-year-old was unable to make his presence felt in the International Cup in Singapore last month, but Dunlop reports his gelding to have returned to Newmarket in fine fettle.

"He arrived home in very good condition and the plan is to run in the Hardwicke," Dunlop said.

"After all the flying and everything, we'll just have to see he is over the next week or two, but at the moment he seems very well."
