The Queensland Thoroughbred Racing Board has set aside $1.2 million to upgrade the Eagle Farm course proper.
QTRB chairman Kevin Dixon said money from the Industry Infrastructure Strategy fund had been allocated to start design and engineering works for the renovation.
"Eagle Farm is our most important racing asset and therefore it needs to be our main priority," Dixon said.
The Racing Queensland board met last week and asked the QTRB to implement a reconstruction plan as soon as possible.
RQ and the Brisbane Racing Club will then present a works and business case to submit to Racing Minister Steve Dickson for funding approval.
