Trainer Chris Munce has 100,000 reasons to be happy with filly Zoucara's come-from-last win in the Priceline Ascot Plate (1300m) at Eagle Farm.
Munce is usually a bundle of energy when he gets a winner but was even more animated than usual when Zoucara ($9) charged home to beat Ella Devine ($16) on Saturday.
Zoucara is by super sire Zoustar out of the Commands mare Mercara and Munce paid $100,000 for her at the 2017 Gold Coast Magic Millions Sales.
However he also recently shelled out another $100,000 for Zoucara's half brother by sire Super One at the recent Inglis Sales in Sydney.
"I really like Zoucara and I have high hopes for her half brother. I was going to spell Zoucara but (the late trainer) Guy Walter once told me never to spell a mare or filly in form."
"So maybe I will press on with her."
Munce does have some hope for Zoucara in the winter carnival where he feels she will be a stronger filly.
"It was great to see Eagle Farm back to its old form with the first three coming from well back before the hometurn," Munce said.
