Maximum of nine rivals for Winx

Monday 25 February 2019, 1:08pm

Winx will have a maximum of nine rivals in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes at Randwick when she aims to increase her Group One tally to 23.

Only three of the of the 10 nominations are from stables outside her own with Aloisia, Happy Clapper and Tavago making up the trio.

She will be out to win her 31st consecutive race and a fourth Chipping Norton Stakes would equal the record in the 1600m-race of Tie The Knot who won from 1999 to 2002.

Winx's trainer Chris Waller will also have multiple representation in the Group One Surround Stakes (1400m) for three-year-old fillies.

Tie The Knot's late trainer Guy Walter will be remembered at Saturday's meeting with the Group Two race for mares named in his honour receiving 16 nominations.

The Sweet Embrace Stakes for fillies and Skyline Stakes for colts and geldings, both qualifying races for the Golden Slipper, have attracted 15 and 14 entries respectively.
