Bullet retired on anniversary of big win

Saturday 8 June 2013, 5:25pm

On the anniversary of his biggest triumph, triple Group One winner Sniper's Bullet has been retired.

The 2007 Stradbroke Handicap winner beat just two horses home in a 1400m race at Randwick on Saturday and after a brief consultation trainer Tracey Bartley and owners Nerida and Roger Atkinson said the race had been his last.

"He will have a good home on our property at Wonga in central western New South Wales," Nerida Atkinson said.

"He broke his stifle last year and we thought we would give him another go but he just hasn't come up."

Sniper's Bullet also won the Perth Group One double of the Railway Stakes and Kingston Town Stakes during the 2009 summer carnival.
