Fifty Stars gets on board for Lindsay Park

Saturday 2 March 2019, 3:08pm

Fifty Stars has led home a Lindsay Park trifecta which in turn could lead to the horse gaining a start in the inaugural All-Star Mile.

Senior Lindsay Park trainer David Hayes says the four-year-old deserves a shot at the race on March 16 following Saturday's victory in the Group Two Blamey Stakes, .

"We'll just train him now for the All-Star Mile and hopefully he gets in," he said.

Completing a double for Ben Allen, Fifty Stars ($9.50) scored a half-head win over So Si Bon ($26) with Cool Chap ($31) 1-3/4 lengths away third.

"He's hit form at the right time. He beat good horses today and it was a big margin back (to third)," Hayes said.

"So Si Bon, now he's a gelding, he's a proper racehorse and he doesn't put a bad run up."

Fifty Stars came to Lindsay Park following the four-year disqualification of Darren Weir and Hayes said the stable was taking time to fully understand the Gerry Ryan-owned galloper.

"Like all the horses I got out of that stable, he arrived in great order," Hayes said.

"He's a class horse. When he came from Darren I said to Gerry Ryan you couldn't afford to buy him, so we're very luck to have him."

Allen is not one of Lindsay Park's regular riders but Hayes said he would supply him more rides.

He said Allen had started riding trackwork for the stable.

"If he helps me, I'll help him," Hayes said.
