A Brisbane Cup win to Moriarty capped a memorable day for both trainer Chris Waller and jockey Nash Rawiller at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
Moriarty burst through a gap from back in the field to race to victory in the Group Two Cup over 2400m, giving Waller and Rawiller winning trebles at the feature meeting.
Waller and Rawiller both notched Group Ones in separate races with the Waller-trained Hawkspur winning the Queensland Derby and Rawiller successful on the Gai Waterhouse-trained two-year-old Romantic Touch in the JJ Atkins (1600m).
They also combined for another Group Two win with Red Tracer in the Dane Ripper Stakes.
"You come to these carnival days and quite often it doesn't pan out how you want it to but when it comes off like today it's something you have to cherish," Rawiller said.
Waller also had a double at Randwick including She's Clean's win in the June Stakes. He also trained a winner at Flemington in Fulgur.
Moriarty ($7) was backing up after his fourth in last week's Eagle Farm Cup (2200m) and after settling back in the field he burst through a gap at the 200m mark and went on to beat favourite Quintessential ($6.50) by a length with a long head to Zennista ($16) third.
Waller said a race like the Group One Metropolitan in Sydney could be a spring target and Rawiller said the gelding would be up to that.
"He's got a magnificent turn of foot," Rawiller said.
