RAD Board varies Walker suspension

Tuesday 5 March 2019, 6:18pm

Michael Walker has had a small reduction in a careless riding suspension but will still miss the Randwick Guineas meeting.

Walker lodged an appeal against the severity of a 10-meeting careless riding ban incurred at Sandown last Wednesday.

The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Tuesday varied the penalty to nine meetings but Walker would have needed three meetings shaved off to be eligible to ride on Saturday at Randwick.

Saturday's meeting features the Group One Randwick Guineas and Canterbury Stakes and a couple of important Golden Slipper lead-up races in which Walker was to ride Aquis Farm-owned youngsters.

Walker's suspension will end on Sunday.
