Inglis has called for expressions of interest to fill its slot for the $14 million Everest.

One of 12 original slot holders, the auction house will canvas owners and trainers of graduates of Inglis sales and says priority will be given to Inglis graduates that have been paid up for an Inglis Race Series, past or present.

"The Everest has been a sensation from the outset and continues to grow and it's something Inglis is thrilled to be involved with,'' Inglis managing director Mark Webster said.

"We feel we had the right horse last year in Santa Ana Lane, an $80,000 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale graduate, but the late heavy rain put an end to his chances.

"We saw in the TJ Smith Stakes on the weekend that Santa is still up there in the upper echelon of sprinters in the country but there are a lot of quality candidates for this year's Everest from Australia and around the world."

Santa Ana Lane was a dominant winner of Saturday's TJ Smith Stakes for trainer Anthony Freedman and Michael Ramsden, manager of the William Street syndicate.

Inglis is also acting as agent for the slot being sold by GPI Racing for this year.

GPI was an original three-year slot holder with the intention of racing its own horse Chautauqua for that period,

With Chautauqua's retirement, the group has put its slot for the final year up for auction with expressions of interest to close on April 30.
