Suspended penalty for Vic trainer

Wednesday 12 June 2013, 6:09pm

Trainer Mark Riley has been given a suspended penalty after being found guilty of two conduct-related charges.

Riley fronted the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board on Wednesday over an incident at Mornington racecourse on May 13 involving him and trackwork rider Jack Dunne.

The RAD Board found Riley guilty of conduct prejudicial to the image of racing and improper behaviour.

They issued a two-month suspended sentence for each charge, to be served concurrently.

The penalty allows Riley to continue training provided he does not commit another breach of the rules in the next 12 months.

At an initial stewards hearing last month Riley admitted to assaulting Dunne but wouldn't speak about the incident with the media present because it involved family matters.
