Sessions returns with barnstorming victory

Saturday 15 June 2013, 4:01pm

A winning return by Sessions at Rosehill has presented trainer Peter Snowden with an immediate programming dilemma for the talented colt.

The three-year-old was forced off the scene in January when he underwent an operation to remove a twisted testicle.

He claimed his fourth win from six starts in the N & A Fruit Distributors Handicap but the time lost means Sessions needs to get his rating up to be a force in the Melbourne spring.

"We might be forced to take him to the Ramornie Handicap at Grafton next month," Snowden said.

"There's the Healy Stakes in Brisbane but I wouldn't back him up in a week.

"But he needs to get his rating up if he is to go to Melbourne.

"If you've got an 80-something rated horse you might as well stay at home because they won't get into the Melbourne spring races.

"He is a talented prospect and we want to get him to Melbourne."

Sessions, the $2.30 favourite, came out of the pack to surge to a 1-3/4 length win over Agent ($6.50) with Golden Sunshine ($10) another three-quarters of a length third.

Although he has had a testicle removed, Sessions, who is by champion Lonhro out of stakes winner Seances, is a valuable stallion prospect for Darley Australia.

"He is still classed as a colt and not a rig," Darley's Jason Walsh said.

"There have been other successful stallions with only one testicle."
