Conservatorium's win in the Eye Liner Stakes might earn him a winter carnival extension.
Trainer Gary Kennewell said the Eye Liner at Ipswich on Saturday was the gelding's target race but the ease of his victory had prompted a rethink.
"I'll nominate him for the Healy Stakes next Saturday and if I decide to run him I won't need to do much with him because he's rock-hard fit," Kennewell said.
"There's also the Glasshouse at Caloundra the following week so I'll definitely be giving it plenty of thought."
Ridden by Joe Bowditch, Conservatorium ($6) won by two lengths from Meet George ($21) with Pellegrini ($17) a nose away third.
Kennewell regards missing out on a Stradbroke Handicap start with Conservatorium as a missed opportunity.
"Everyone including me thought he'd won the QTC Cup and it cost him a run in the Stradbroke," he said.
"I was glad we didn't need a photo finish today. I couldn't go through that again."
While an extended Queensland stay remains on the table for Conservatorium, the Group One Winterbottom Stakes in Perth in November is firmly in Kennewell's plans.
"We got a free ticket out of the Goodwood to run in the Winterbottom and he'll probably have one lead-up run in Melbourne beforehand," he said.
Kennewell has always had a high opinion of Conservatorium and says the gelding's form has improved with age.
"He started off a bit weedy but he's really strengthened up in the past 12 months and turned into a really nice horse," he said.
