Jeff Lloyd likely to appeal suspension

Sunday 12 May 2019, 7:57am

Premier Brisbane jockey Jeff Lloyd is likely to appeal after being suspended for 16 days for his ride on Outback Barbie in the Doomben 10,000.

As it stands, the ban rules Lloyd out of some major races during the winter carnival.

Lloyd pleaded not guilty to causing interference to White Moss, ridden by Kathy O'Hara, at the 150m mark.

However, stewards found White Moss was crowded for room near the 150m when racing between The Bostonian, which rolled in, and Outback Barbie.

Stewards found Lloyd angled his mount outwards when attempting to obtain a run to the outside of I'm A Rippa when in the opinion of the stewards there was insufficient room.

Lloyd was found guilty and suspended for 16 days starting on May 19.

He has five working days in which to seek an internal review.

Lloyd is also appealing a suspension from earlier this year in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

The bright spot in the jockey's day was his win on the Tony Gollan-trained three-year-old Ef Troop.
