Having recently returned from a serious leg injury, Thomas Stockdale is the latest Victorian apprentice chosen to ride in a race in France.
Stockdale will represent Australia in the Longines Prix Future Racing Stars which will be held on French Oaks day at Chantilly, June 16.
Stockdale spent more than a year on the sidelines recuperating from a serious leg injury, returning to race riding in early April.
It will be Stockdale's first trip to Europe where he will compete against other apprentices from around the world.
Previous Victorian apprentices to represent Australia in the 1600m race were Beau Mertens (2015), Tahlia Hope (2016), Lachie King (2017) and Michael Poy (2018).
"I feel very privileged to travel to France and represent my country," Stockdale said.
"I've spoken to a few of the guys who went in previous years, they all really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to the experience."
Stockdale will also get the opportunity to ride work for local trainers at Chantilly and hopes to return to Australia a better jockey for the experience.
