Godolphin galloper Bandipur may have earned a reprieve from the sales ring with a fighting victory at Caulfield.
Bandipur is listed to go under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale at the Gold Coast on June 7.
But potential buyers may have to fork out a little extra to secure the gelding following his win in the MRC Membership Renewal Handicap on Saturday.
Ridden by Craig Williams, Bandipur, the $4 equal favourite, scored by a neck from Malibu Style ($6.50) with Holy Blade ($12) a length away third.
Bandipur has now won nine of his 21 starts with Saturday's victory his third at Caulfield.
Kate Grimwade, who runs the Melbourne stable for Godolphin trainer James Cummings, said Bandipur was a beautiful horse to have in the yard.
"In his last four starts he's won three very impressively and loves it here at Caulfield," Grimwade said.
"Sadly he is entered at the Gold Coast and I'm sure James will be making a case for him to stay in the yard after that.
"He's done really well since he's been gelded and I think he's racing as well as he's ever raced.
"If he does go to the sale I just hope he finds a lovely home because he is a really nice horse."
