Favourite shortens after Stradbroke draw

Wednesday 5 June 2019, 11:49am

Stradbroke Handicap favourite The Bostonian was the subject of solid backing minutes after the barrier draw for the big race on Wednesday morning.

The Bostonian drew barrier 10 for Saturday's Group One race but will start from the six gate if the emergencies don't get a run.

The Bostonian was the major market mover after the draw, tightening to $4.40 from a $6 quote early this week.

Others to shorten were Despatch ($15 into $14) after he drew barrier one, Pretty In Pink ($15 into $14) after drawing barrier two and Viridine who drew barrier 11 was $26 into $21 as he is likely to start from seven after scratchings.

At the other end of the scale, Godolphin's Home Of The Brave drifted out to $13 from $11 after drawing barrier 22.
