Signore Fox claims Listed Daybreak Lover

Saturday 8 June 2019, 11:50am

Sydney colt Signore Fox finally got everything to order which allowed him to show his best form at Eagle Farm.

Signore Fox ($6) finished too strongly to beat Malahide ($11) by 1 1/2 lengths with a short neck to Ready To Prophet ($6) third in the Listed Daybreak Lover (1200m).

Trainer Peter Snowden said he had always thought Signore Fox was a stakes-class horses.

"A few things have gone against him but not today. He had the right conditions today ... his best distance is 1200m and he likes dry tracks," Snowden said.

"His run in the Fred Best was good considering he doesn't run out a strong 1400m and this race was the obvious way to go and not the Guineas which was also on today."

Snowden said he had a high opinion of Signore Fox in the spring last year and was now looking at the same again this year.

"He can go for a break and then come back for some the black type sprints."

Winning jockey James McDonald said he thought Signore Fox could go to win in better company.

"He put them away very quickly when I asked him to go," McDonald said.
