Black-type lures Matt Dunn runner

Friday 21 June 2019, 5:02pm

The lure of black-type means the promising Snazz 'N' Charm will run at Eagle Farm rather than a rain-affected Randwick.

Murwillumbah trainer Matt Dunn took Snazz 'N' Charm to Sydney for his first start after he won trials at Doomben and Randwick.

After being pushed back early, Snazz 'N' Charm travelled deep around the field before finishing a close second in a two-year-old race on the Kensington track won by Leviathan who runs at Randwick on Saturday.

Dunn was tossing up between taking Snazz'N'Charm to Sydney on Saturday or taking on stakes class in Brisbane.

The weather and the black-type swayed Dunn to run Snazz 'N' Charm in the Listed Winning Edge 2YO Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

"In the end Sydney is going to be heavy and I don't think 1400 metres at Eagle Farm will be any problems," Dunn said.

"In hindsight we should have gone forward in the Kensington race and been up on the pace. He probably would have won."

Snazz 'N' Charm was a $200,000 yearling at the Inglis Sales and as a colt black-type would add to his value.

Dunn will trial the stable's top sprinter Care To Think at Deagon after the gelding was cut from the Doomben trials on Thursday.

"Apparently they had too many horses and kept the trials for Brisbane-trained horses," Dunn said.

"I am aiming him to be first-up in the Ramornie at Grafton in three weeks so it is no real problem."
