Long serving Toowoomba Turf Club committeeman Bob Frappell has resigned after a vote of members overturned a board decision to bar Mark Currie from training at the track.
Mark Currie is the father of trainer Ben Currie who has been disqualified for seven-and-a-half years on wide ranging charges.
Ben Currie has also been charged by police with fraud.
Mark Currie is training on a restricted basis until at least August.
Earlier this month the TTC committee voted 4 to 3 to ban him from training at the club's Clifford Park track.
That decision was put to members who voted by a majority of two, 97 to 95, to over turn the committee decision and allow Currie to train at Toowoomba.
Once the members vote was released Frappell tendered his resignation on Friday.
Frappell has been on the committee for two decades and was chairman from 2010 to 2016 before acting as treasurer for the past three years.
"I have heard what the members have said. I was one of the four who voted to ban Mark but obviously the members disagree," Frappell said.
"I felt I had no choice but to resign."
Other members of the committee are believed to be considering their positions.
